José-Miguel Ullán notes regarding the publication of his collected poetry: “Whenever I've felt too comfortable, I've immediately changed register. Not with the intention of creating a sample, but with the purpose of embracing complexity from the most varied perspectives” (Benéitez, 2019: 78). That statement condenses what ultimately becomes the fundamental principle on which his work is built. And it is precisely from this concept that Rosa Benéitez dedicates exhaustive research to the Spanish writer's poetics in search of these constant changes of register. Through the analysis of the various aspects of Ullán's work, the author manages to substantiate how the poet situates himself within what she calls an “aesthetics of the unstable.”
