The Municipal Associativism in Chile: A Mechanism to Strengthen the Stained Decentralization at a Local Level?

Abstract

Has the municipal associativism in Chile contributed to the strengthening of local decentralization? That is the question that the present article seeks to answer, analyzing the development of municipal associations in the country and investigating some incipient results. After a bibliographical - documentary analysis and the application of a structured interview to representatives of 15 municipal associations in Chile, elusive answers emerge: with lights and shadows, a mixture of moments of protagonism and experiences of absolute invisibility.
