History

The Árboles y Rizomas academic journal began to take shape within the Department of Linguistics and Literature around 2017 as a project that would account for the advancement of disciplinary lines in linguistic and literary studies.

A diagnosis of the supply of Chilean publications in these fields made us see that it was the right time to present a journal that would make visible the results of research in the dynamic field of literature and linguistics and its multiple areas of convergence.

An editorial team is set up that convenes a scientific committee and a committee of collaborators. The indexing parameters are reviewed, the focus and scope are formulated, and access to the Open Journal System platform managed by the University is achieved.

In order to reach a wide readership, the journal publishes works in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. As a result of the first call, the first issue was published in March 2019, the only issue that comes out in print and digital format and that was presented in the Hall of Honor of the University. Since that first issue, the biannual periodicity has been maintained, with two issues a year that are published in June and December and that contain the articles and a presentation of the issue by the editor and/or an academic of the editorial team.

The journal was launched following the metaphor of a ship that sets sail on a voyage and touches different ports, each arrival at port means a published issue. The journal published articles and reviews, and after a few issues, the notes were included to account for descriptive and interpretative texts of a work, author, book, conference, or exhibition, followed by a critical evaluation that measures its interest or originality for the specialized community.

Two types of articles are published: research, which details the original results of research projects, and review of theoretical topics, where the conceptual frameworks of a research are analyzed, systematized, and integrated in order to inform readers of the latest trends and developments.

The Árboles y Rizomas journal is licensed under a Creative Commons international license. Considering that the open access policy contributes to the exchange of global knowledge, the journal offers immediate free access to its content. All readers from anywhere in the world can read and download the articles for free. In addition, authors do not have to pay to publish in the journal.

Considering that ethical aspects are fundamental in editorial processes, the journal is governed by the rules and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The journal has entered various repositories and indexers, among which we can name ErihPlus, Latindex Catalogo, and MLA Directory.
