Editorial process

For the publication of its issues, Políticas Públicas unfolds an editorial work whose stages depend on both Editorial Committee and our peer reviewers. For this, together with the instructions from Submissions tab, it will follow this process.

Article Submissions
For all contribution proposal to Políticas Públicas, you must log in [“Entrar” button] the Open Journal System site (OJS) of Universidad de Santiago de Chile (Santiago de Chile University). In OJS, you will find the submission way and communication channel with us.

If you have not an account, you can register by clicking on the “Registrarse” [Register] button at the top left of your screen.

You will be guided by the system in the register, access and log in process.

Preliminary Assessment
The receipted manuscripts will be subjected to a Preliminary Assessment like a previously examination for reception editorial. In this sense, the Editorial Committee will check the adequacy of content to our scope together with the editorial quality in structure, format and American Psychology Association (APA) last edition citation and references standards.

  • Submission of Documents. Besides of manuscript, you must submit a document with this information for every author: Name in full of each one; Institutional affiliation (regarding the name of institution, city/county and country of that; position or post is optional); Contact email; Code and link of ORCID identification; grades or whatever academic credentials (consider graduate and postgraduate studies). In addition, you must submit the Transfer of Rights Form.
  • Preliminary Assessment Deadlines. At this stage, the Editorial Committee will notify you through the OJS system the acceptance, return or refusal of manuscript within a maximum of three weeks since the date of submission in the system. In return or refusal case, the decision will be substantiated in the notice. In case of devolution, the author(s) will count on a maximum of two weeks deadline since the date of notice to send the modified manuscript; if it is not sent, it will be regarded as a withdrawal.

Peer Reviewers Assessment
Every preliminarily accepted contribution will be evaluated by two experts in the disciplinary competent field. Those experts will be responsible for appreciating or depreciating the scientific quality and qualification of that contribution based on a double-blind peer review (i.e., there is not an identification of authorship nor reviewer or examiner). It should be noted that our peer reviewers hold an equal to or superior master or second superior level graduate: in our journal, the Editor and Editorial Committee are responsible for appointment.

The subprocess of assessment by double-blind peer mode will use an evaluation guideline which we arrange for your information. This subprocess will have a duration between four and twelve weeks since the preliminary assessment. Using that guideline, the contribution will be evaluated in these rankings:

  1. Acceptable in full. It accepts without substantial changes, and only a minor revision of grammatical accuracy is appropriate.
  2. Publishable with modifications. It accepts, and changes in content and formal aspects are recommended to authorship.
  3. Forward with amendments. Due to remarks for analysis and adequacy of manuscript, the full re-examining is recommended to authorship.
  4. Unpublishable. The contribution is refused, looking upon major grave disciplinary gaps such as contribution to knowledge, transparency and investigative ethics, substantial disorder in content and formal aspects, among others.

All recommendations will be sent through OJS communication channel.

In case of dispute or 3-category, a request will be sent to other evaluator for the purpose to resolve the evaluation of controversy. In any case, General Editor is responsible for the decision with respect to acceptance or refusal of contribution.

Final Stage
Once the double-blind peer review is ended, including the decision of Editorial Committee, it will notify the next publication of article in the issue determined by General Editor, through OJS communication channel.

The editing team, belonging to the General Editor, will be responsible for the layout, proofreading and deposit of article according to the standard design of Políticas Públicas. Likewise, this team will also review of metadata in Spanish and English.

Lastly, with the publication of issue, General Editor will be responsible both distribution and activation of DOI. With this, the article will find in the deposits and index databases of Políticas Públicas.
