The COVID19 pandemic has highlighted the deep inequalities between countries and regions, profoundly disrupting the global economy. Therefore, to return to the discussion of the relevance of implementing Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Mexico as a public policy of proven effectiveness to face the challenges of the current world economic situation. Documentary analysis was carried out in investigations that study the effect of SEZs on social mobility, identifying recurring factors. A correlation analysis was carried out to determine the relationship between the amount of EEZ, wealth, and inequality. The results show that SEZs contribute to the generation of wealth, but not to the same extent as the reduction of inequality.
