Abstract

Starting from a dialectic critique of key Marxist theses, new concepts emerge for the critical analysis of capitalism. These result from the new characteristics of that social system in the 21st century, and from the experience and lessons left by the past century when capitalism managed to prevail despite booming social and political radical movements of Marxian inspiration. In some cases —regarding exploitation, false class conscience, imperialism, falling rate of profit and commodity fetishism— adjustments are proposed following new forms adopted by capitalism in the of 21st century. In other cases, related to the Marxian strategy for overcoming capitalism, a deep change is proposed regarding the role of class struggle and the deterministic presumption for history is rejected.
