Abstract

The psychological contract is a central component of contemporary people management, referring to the implicit beliefs and expectations that shape the relationship between employees and organizations. This essay analyzes the role of the psychological contract in workplace relationships and emotional experiences at work, considering its impact on mental health, engagement, and organizational well-being. Drawing on a critical theoretical review and the recent Chilean context, the concept of “healthy sensations” is proposed as a complementary qualitative indicator of organizational climate. Implications for people management and directions for future research and organizational practice are discussed.
