Abstract

This paper contributes to the literature of innovation management and technology management through the disambiguation and discussion of the concepts of knowledge-based firms and technology-based firms. This discussion is interesting due to the role these organizations play in innovation.

Through a documentary review of the literature, firstly, the concepts of 'firm', 'knowledge' and 'technology' are defined. Then, the disambiguation and discussion of ‘knowledge-based firms' and 'technology-based firms' and their role in innovation is made.
