We here review the novel Chamanes eléctricos en la fiesta del sol (2024), by Mónica Ojeda, which narrates the journey of a group of young people to the Ruido Solar music festival in the Ecuadorian mountain range, where they explore their relationship with nature, spirituality and their own personal pasts. In this context, Andean mythologies, shamanic practices and a strong social critique of the violence, abandonment and precariousness that afflict contemporary Ecuador are fused. The novel, through the fragmentation and musicality of its prose, poses a reflection on memory, noise and vibrations that connect the characters with their environment.
