In the analysis of higher education internationalisation and their institutions we can distinguish different perspectives in terms of the causes and consequences. Internationalisation involves not only the design of strategies on the international dimension of the institution but also the development of an appropriate management plan. Therefore, the formulation of specific policies in teaching, research and extension is needed.
Within this framework the purpose of this paper is to compare the internationalisation of higher education policies for a group of selected countries in Latin America: Mexico, Colombia and Argentina. First of all, we will briefly characterise the education system of each country. Secondly, we will describe the internacionalisation policies implemented. Then, we will interpret those policies with the aim of relating and confronting the different systems comparing them to finally present a synthesis drawing general conclusions.
