Peer review process

All papers submitted to Re-presentaciones. Periodismo, comunicación y sociedad that have passed the pre-evaluation carried out by the Advisory Board are submitted to double-blind peer review, according to the evaluation guideline.

The referees or expert peers are suitable and qualified professionals, specialised in the thematic areas of each of the articles submitted to the journal. Their suitability will depend, among others, on the following criteria:

  • They must have a postgraduate qualification: master's degree or doctorate.
  • They must have scientific publications with research or studies in the area.
  • They must not have the same institutional affiliation as the author of the manuscript.

Once the blind peer reviewer's reports have been received, the Editorial Team will make the final decision on approval or rejection of publication by means of the following opinions:

  • Publication is approved.
  • The publication is approved, taking into account and reworking the aspects observed by the reviewers.
  • Adjust and send for evaluation.
  • The article is rejected for publication.

If the reviewer's opinion notes any corrections, the author will have a period of fifteen working days to make the requested adjustments. If this period is exceeded, the contribution will be subject to the decisions determined by the editorial team in accordance with the journal's publishing times. At the same time, it should be noted that the approval of a paper submitted for evaluation does not determine its immediate publication.

The editor-in-chief of the journal will acknowledge receipt of the originals within fifteen working days of their deposit in the Corrected Article section of the OJS repository.

The refereeing system implies that each manuscript is submitted to the evaluation of two external members of the publishing institution. They will have a maximum of thirty (30) working days for the evaluation. If the evaluation is dichotomous, a third evaluator will be proposed to decide on the proposal.

Authors are requested to enclose with the submission of the proposal: a summary CV, a letter of originality and assignment of rights (same document) and informed consent if interviews have been carried out and used in the manuscript (this document is the one used by the author in his/her research).
