Gender policy

Authors should consider sex and/or gender in their article. In cases where they cannot, they should present it as a limitation to the generalization of their research. It is important that authors explicitly state which definitions of sex and/or gender they are applying to improve accuracy, rigor, and reproducibility in their research and to avoid ambiguities. Referring to the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines and their checklist is suggested. Keep in mind that there is no single set of guidelines for defining sex and gender.
