Editorial process
The editorial process of Revista Geoingeniería comprises the following stages:
- Submission of the manuscript. Contributions will be received through the Universidad de Santiago de Chile’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, together with the required metadata and supporting information.
- Preliminary editorial review. The Editorial Team will verify that the manuscript falls within the journal’s focus and scope and complies with the established requirements for presentation, originality, academic integrity and editorial standards.
- Peer review. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review will undergo double-blind peer review, preferably by two external specialists in the field.
- Editorial decision. On the basis of the reviewers’ reports, the manuscript may be accepted, minor or major revisions may be requested, a further review may be required, or publication may be declined. Where reviews diverge substantially, a third review may be requested.
- Review of revisions. Where applicable, authors must submit a new version of the manuscript together with their responses to the comments made during review.
- Editing and production. Accepted manuscripts will undergo copy-editing, editorial standardisation, metadata review, typesetting and preparation of the final files.
- Publication. Once the editorial process is complete, the article will be included in the relevant issue of Revista Geoingeniería and published open access on its OJS platform.
The final decision on the acceptance or rejection of a contribution rests with the journal’s Editorial Team.
